2 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: It was a good monitor. Not high end but for average use it was good

Cons: After about 9 months, I noticed the corner of the monitor screen was displaying a bit lighter. Now over 15 months, it has gotten bigger and worse. I'm disappointed this happened after 9 months and not sooner so I could have gotten a replacement. I'm leery getting another monitor b/c I expect to buy equipment that will last at least a few years.

1 out of 5 eggsProduct not correct?

Pros: It is an ok monitor but the product is wrong...

Cons: I purchased 2 of these monitors, one from the store and one from newegg.com The one from the store is perfect the picture is crystal clear no complaints there.

So I decided to order a 2nd one to match it. I got it in the mail and the picture doesn't even come as close as the one I purchased from the store even though they are exactly the same. The boxes and numbers match up perfectly however the picture is completely different.

I am very disappointed, I loved the monitor I have and was looking forward to having another one just like it. I'm not sure how its even possible that the picture is different. Apparently they are selling a lesser product trying to pass it off as something else.

I feel cheated and am going to be looking for a refund.

3 out of 5 eggsMeh!

Pros: Fits on my desk. Replaces florescent tube 23" V-Sonic. Slightly larger screen, same space taken up, no warm up time required.

Cons: Crummy picture out of the box. Still messing with settings. Touch buttons too sensitive, gives unwanted results. On screen menu hard to fuss with because of touch button issues. Shared on two computers, works better with Radion HD 6570, Radion HD 6450 does not recognize monitor even though Windoze 7/64 shows it in Device Mangler. Cannot get full resolution with HD 6450. Washed out colors, too. Blacks simply aren't.

Other Thoughts: Radion HD 6450 may be my issue. I am having better luck with the HD 6570. HD 6450 has the specs to support the monitor but best I can pull is 1600 x 900 without squishy icons and unreadable text.

2 out of 5 eggsSave your money!

Pros: Bright screen, thin, great design

Cons: Bad picture quality, pixelated, no DVI, hurts eyes

Other Thoughts: I picked this display up at costco for 130 bucks, and I was going to buy the same one here on newegg. I'm glad I didn't, because I'm taking this pathetic excuse for a display back first thing in the morning. I hooked it up and started doing basic things. I watched some youtube videos, checked email, etc. and I really didn't notice how horrible it was until I played a few games. The screen was horribly pixelated; I could distinguish the pixels when I am sitting a good 5 feet away from the display. I thought my eyes would adjust, but after just 45 minutes of using this thing, I started to feel headaches and my eyes were killing me. I'm 18 with perfect 20/20 vision, there is no excuse for a display to do that to someone with my eyesight. I've used many displays for the same price, the dell 24" S2409W to give an example. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone, save your money and buy a better display like the one mentioned above or the Dell P2412H.

Other Thoughts: black Friday sale.

Pros: -Amazing 1080p crisp picture

5 out of 5 eggsVery Good Crisp HD Monitor

Pros: I bought two of these within the past month and all I can say is that they are wonderfully crisp with true to life color and great resolution. I didn't use the CD that came with them, I just downloaded the latest drivers from AMD(both PC's have Radeon cards) and everything worked great with a little tweaking of the settings.

At first I was a little concerned about the 200cd/m2 brightness rating, though the screens were so bright I had to knock down the brightness nearly in half. It produces virtually no heat.

Both of the monitors I got work perfectly, tilt easily, and there were no stuck pixels. I cannot speak to what others are saying about the Magic Angle not working, though this can be disabled in the menu and that could be the problem. These monitors produce a beautiful HD display. Based on the quality of picture, and being able to stream movies from Netflix without blurring for the first month of ownership these are great monitors. I'm not a big gamer, but this monitor is rated at 5ms gtg versus 2ms for a typical "Gaming" monitor, not sure if that would be noticeable, at least in most anything outside of the most demanding games.

If I needed another monitor, then I wouldn't hesitate to buy this same one again.

Cons: Only con was the last review I did was censored because I mentioned that they could be more competitive with their pricing on this monitor.

Other Thoughts: My only concerns with these are the same that I have with virtually everything produced today -- will it last? That is the unknown, and though I haven't dealt with Samsung Warranty Repair service before, if they are like most everyone else these days, then it probably won't be a good experience. Samsung has lowered their warranty to one year, though that may be because I got them at a deep discount at costco.

If you can view this monitor somewhere, then spend a little time playing with the settings as a few of the presets are absolutely horrible, but there are number of others to choose from that work much better and you can still do more fine tuning either on the monitor or from your video card control center software.

I wonder if folks who are saying the monitor doesn't tilt may have installed the base incorrectly. My monitors tilt backwards and forwards fine, if the overall height of the monitor is not high enough then it would require a stand or something underneath it as it can't be raised, only can be tilted. Some people have alluded to possibly having "counterfeit" monitors, I can't speak to that other than to say to make sure that you buy from a reputable dealer and you should get the real thing.

People should not complain that there is no DVI input or no VESA mounting since it is clearly noted in the specifications that it doesn't have those features. If those are important, then this isn't the right monitor.

5 out of 5 eggsCrisp and Beautiful

Pros: I bought my wife one of these and liked it so much that I got another one. Very crisp and beautiful display and rich true to life colors. Both computers have different Radeon GPU's but between the AMD Vision Control Center (a.k.a. Catalyst Control Center) and the on-board controls it only takes a little while to tweak it to look very good. This monitor is much brighter than the 200 cd/m2 brightness rating might suggest as I had to knock down the brightness almost in half. Got both of these monitors at Costco for $90 less. Very good for browsing and streaming Netflix movies. I'm not a gamer so I can't speak to whether the 5ms rating GTG versus a 2ms GTG rating on most "gaming" monitors would really be noticeable. I haven't had any streaking or blurring and no stuck or bright pixels. Also because it is LED, there is virtually no heat coming off this which is great. Blacks are dark black just the way they should be.

Cons: Only thing I don't care for is the rather bright blue pilot light in the front that also blinks when in sleep mode. Nothing that some scotch taped couldn't fix, I can still see it only I don't need the welder's glasses anymore.

Other Thoughts: There was a reviewer commenting on how bad the monitor was because it wouldn't tilt. Both of the monitors I got tilted fine right out of the box.

Another reviewer indicated he bought 5 of these and only one had the Magic Angle feature. Both of the ones I got have that feature and it can be disabled through the on board menu if you don't want to use it.

My experience has been nothing short of perfect with both monitors and the only question that I have is if they will last a long time, and I'll just have to wait to find out. Much as I like these monitors, if I had to pay 229, then I'd make certain that there wasn't anything better in that range, and there still might not be, but I'd check to be sure. If Costco can offer them for 139, then Newegg should be able to come up with that as well and toss in free shipping. Costco is huge and can buy in volume, but Newegg is big as well and they don't have to contend with hundreds or even thousands of properties and maintaining those large stores and hiring thousands of people to run them.

3 out of 5 eggsGood but not great

Pros: Light weight with good color depth and easy to assemble. No dead pixels on either monitor and the picture is outstanding on the one that works right.

Cons: Horrible horrible monitor stand with no ability to adjust. Monitors are tilted down on stands (about sternum level instead of eye level) with no capability to fix/adjust without elevating them about 12-18inches .
No brackets for wall or arm mounting.
The side frames are too thick to run multi-monitor configurations.
VGA and HDMI but no DVI inputs.
The color and brightness controls are not outstanding.

Did I mention the near useless monitor stand?

Other Thoughts: I received two of these as a gift. One of the two has horrible issues with the colors washing out and and has almost almost no ability to show black. Not sure if it is defective, but I am thinking a counter-fit as the front logo is also not correct.

This review reflects the working version of the monitor. The working version will probably serve 80% of the world's users fine, but those that like to control and customize their computing environment will be disappointed. The color and responsiveness are crisp, but the detractors are too much for me.

Both are being returned to the retailer of origin and I will find something with a good picture and adaptability.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible, Misrepresented Monitors

Pros: One (out of five) that I got worked nicely and had the features it was supposed to have with a nice picture.

Cons: The other four had a horrible, washed out picture with terrible contrast and laughable black levels. This did not change through viewing angle, a firmware update, or any amount of settings tweaking or software tweaking.

Samsung says that these monitors have the Magic Angle feature (I use this feature at work on the Samsung monitors there), but it seems that they actually do not any longer. The one (out of five) that did have the feature was manufactured a few months before the other four.

Other Thoughts: I recently purchased three of these monitors on sale from my local store. Of the three, only one actually had the Magic Angle feature touted on the Samsung website for these monitors.

Samsung support was no help, and actually tried to convince me that the monitor didn't "need" the Magic Angle feature and that their website did not actually say that the monitors have the feature. It's clear to me that the Samsung website for the S24B300EL states the following at the top of the page: "24" Class LED Monitor with MagicAngle". The feature is again mentioned in the "Specs" section of the webpage.

The missing Magic Angle feature would not have been such a big deal had the two monitors without it matched the performance of the one that did, but this wasn't so. The two monitors without Magic Angle had a washed out picture with almost unreadable on-screen text. Contrast was non-existent, and the black levels were laughable. No change in viewing angle, software adjustment, firmware update, or settings configuration could save the monitors from the horrible display.

The story gets worse when after I exchanged the two monitors lacking Magic Angle with two other S24B300ELs at the store. The new monitors suffered from the same terrible picture quality and lack of Magic Angle as those that were exchanged. Samsung support was again no help, and the final decision to return all three monitors to the store was made. Upon returning the monitors, the returns supervisor was on hand and noticed that the two monitors without the Magic Angle feature had some marks of bad workmanship (badly assembled connectors and skewed Serial Number tags) that the monitor that did feature Magic Angle did not. My wife and I suddenly found ourselves as suspects of retail fraud as the store supervisor thought the we had counter-fitted the two horrible monitors. It was only after the supervisor opened another monitor from their stock and saw the same signs of bad workmanship that he absolved us of retail fraud and allowed our refund. That's an hour of our lives, full of frustration and worry, that we will never have back.

Ultimately, I think that Samsung must have changed the design of this monitor as some point down the line. The monitor that worked well had a manufacture date of July 2012, while the other four horrible monitors were manufactured in October and November 2012. I guess I just pulled a needle out the haystack in getting the good monitor when I picked up the original three. This probably was once a good monitor, as evidenced by the one good one that I did get (out of five), but now they are terrible monitors with terrible workmanship and an absolutely unacceptable picture. Buy at you own risk, and don't expect Samsung to be any help.
